270 West Consulting response to Cape Breton Post Feb 13, 2025
We acknowledge the postponement of the Cape Breton Eagles’ “Veteran of the Game” program and are disappointed to no longer be involved. We remain committed to supporting other initiatives that assist veterans.
We regret not being able to respond in time to an article referencing our company, which contained inaccuracies.
Since late 2021, 270 West Consulting has assisted over 1,000 veterans. Our primary focus is helping veterans understand their options through Veterans Affairs Canada and other organizations. We provide a roadmap outlining recommended actions, which veterans can follow independently at no cost.
If a veteran desires further assistance with the claims process, we delve deeper by learning their service history and specifics of their trade, and then we research similar claims submitted to VAC. We collaborate with mental health professionals and medical clinics across Canada to ensure veterans receive appropriate support. If a veteran lacks a healthcare provider, we connect them with our network partners. In cases where we find the veterans’ current healthcare providers are reluctant with paperwork, we facilitate referrals to more cooperative partners.
For successful claims resulting in a lump sum award, we charge a contingency fee of 10%. This is our sole revenue-generating service. After claims are processed, we continue to work with veterans on an ongoing basis to address their evolving needs.
We understand there are other companies in Canada that provide similar services for a fee, as well as volunteer organizations that do so at no charge. 270 West Consulting was created in direct response to veterans seeking our professional claim application service, in addition to the many other offerings we provide for free. We take our responsibilities to all veterans very seriously and do anything we possibly can to help them.
Thank you for the opportunity to clarify.
