Our terms of service
These terms explain what to expect when you use our website, contact our team or choose to work with us. We want you to know what support we provide, what remains your decision and when a fee applies.
About these terms
You can use the resources available on our website and speak with our team without becoming a paying client. Before any paid work begins, we provide the scope of our services and the fee terms in writing so you can decide whether to proceed.
The written terms you accept for a paid engagement provide the details of that work. If they differ from the general information on this page, the written terms for your engagement apply.
How we can help
270 West Consulting provides hands-on benefits navigation for Canadian veterans. Our benefits navigators help prepare and submit disability benefits claims and provide support with decision reviews, appeals, reassessments and related services.
We are independent of Veterans Affairs Canada and are not affiliated with VAC. VAC makes decisions about benefits. We can explain the process, help with the practical work and support you through the next steps, but we cannot promise a particular decision or payment.
Your role and choices
It remains your claim. We explain what information is needed, prepare materials with you and give you the opportunity to ask questions. You review and approve information before we submit it on your behalf.
Please provide information that is accurate to the best of your knowledge and tell us when a relevant detail changes. If you are unsure about something, let us know. We can work through what needs to be clarified without asking you to guess or fill a gap from memory.
You decide whether to use our services and which steps you want to take.
Free conversations and paid services
Using the resources on our website and booking a call with our team are free. They do not commit you to paid services.
Benefits navigation and filing is the service for which we charge a fee. Our fee is 10%, and we are paid only if your claim is successful. Before you decide to engage us, we explain in writing how the fee is calculated, when it becomes payable and what work it covers.
Other support or resources may be available from us at no charge. We will tell you clearly if a proposed service has a fee before you agree to it.
Your information and privacy
You may share personal and health information when you use our forms or work with us. We use that information to respond to you and provide the support you request. Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and protect it, and how to contact us about it.
Where we need your permission to obtain information or communicate with VAC, a health-care professional or another organization on your behalf, we will explain what is needed and ask for the appropriate authorization.
Information on this website
Our articles, guides and other website resources are intended to help you understand your options. They provide general information; your circumstances and the requirements that apply to you may be different. Programs, forms and processes can also change.
We work to keep the site useful and accurate. If you are making a decision about an application or responding to a VAC letter, check the current information that applies to your situation. You can contact us to talk through anything that is unclear.
Our website may link to VAC and other organizations. Those organizations manage their own websites, information and privacy practices. A link does not mean that we control their services or are affiliated with them.
Decisions and responsibility
We take care in the work we agree to provide. We cannot control VAC’s decisions, processing times or requests for further information, and we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access to our website.
Nothing on this page removes any right that cannot be limited under applicable law. Any further terms about responsibility for paid services should be read together with the written terms provided for that engagement.
Changes to these terms
We may update this page as our website or services change. The effective date at the top shows when this version took effect. Changes to an existing paid engagement will be addressed through the written terms for that engagement.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Nova Scotia, Canada, subject to any applicable law that cannot be excluded.
